Isaias is the Director, Talent Acquisition CoE at Sobeys Inc., one of only two national grocery retailers in Canada. A proudly Canadian company with more than 110+ years in the food business, Sobeys Inc. and its franchisees and affiliates employ more than 125,000 people from coast-to-coast. Sobeys Inc. serves the food shopping needs of Canadians with approximately 1,500 stores in all 10 provinces under retail banners that include Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, Foodland, FreshCo, Thrifty Foods and Lawtons Drugs, as well as more than 350 retail fuel locations.
In his current role Isaias, leads the harmonization of process, tools, systems and broadening the strategic vision of Talent Acquisition for corporate, distribution and retail locations nationally with a focus on a diverse workforce at Sobeys. The team is currently looking at opportunities to simplify the end users experiences through AI and maintain the candidate experience is a focal point this year.
He has worked as a Talent professional across various industries and in complex matrix organizations on both a national and global level. His 19 years of Human Resources experience has seen him work in Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Employee Relations, Compensation and Project Management areas.
In the past he has implemented harmonized Talent Acquisition and Human Resources practices that have generated cost-effective solutions with minimal organizational risk. Recognized for his proven leadership skills in dealing with sensitive business challenges, his focus is on positive client experiences and providing direction with a compassionate approach to employees. He is a thought leader who challenges the status quo, and helps develop business focused strategy with a focus on utilizing lean process efficiencies in a changing business environment. Always an approachable leader and happy to help develop career paths for those he gets to know.
Away from the office, Isaias spends time with his family wife (who also works in HR) and his 2 children. You will usually find him coaching soccer in the summer and hanging out around the bench at hockey arenas in the winter with a coffee in hand.
